Suckola
It's my least favorite time of the year. No doubt.
I love love love that Quinn has the BEST parental structure on the planet, back home. But still, I miss him EVERY DAY for forty-something weeks.
And I try to comfort the guy who aches at his core every day, just because he doesn't get to live with his son.
Suckola.
Suck. Ole. Ah. And love love love love and more love. I guess that's all there is, really.

Oh Bon. That is just hard. At least this kid knows he is loved. That is the best thing anyone can do. But it doesn't make it easier on you. Lots of love.

The fact that Quinn is such an amazing and fabulous kid doesn't make it any easier either I'm sure. He is a truly special and wonderful child. I'm sure he knows how much you and Keith love him. Hugs and kisses to you all.

The memories that you two are adding to his bank cannot be compared. THAT DODGER DOG SHOT IS PRICELESS!!!!!!! It's a future advertisement.....

Thanks for sharing some of that time with us!!! Quinn has been the talk of the household, believe me. He really is a fantastic kid.

I know how rough that has to be. But look at it this way, maybe? You get to have the coolest time with him, and have nothing but a ball. You don't have the crappy parts to contend with.
It's a tiny consolation...
Guess you'd better start working on one you get to keep all the time?
Love you, honey xoxoxo

1. Thanks, everyone, for the wonderfully encouraging comments. Seriously, y'all rock.
2. Cliff: I absolutely know you're right and that's what makes it all okay. It's that whole "we've loved more today than most have loved in a lifetime" thingy. Or somesuch.
3.
4. Amy, we are VERY lucky that Quinn is growing up in such a wonderful family, filled with love. And he has our love here too. And, when he's ready to come live with his dad and bond at a different level, we're totally ready for that. And his mom is too. That's what's cool. We ALL just want what's best for that brilliant, beautiful kid.
5. True, Aleta. If he were a total brat, this would be like a huge celebration (his leaving). Instead, it's days of sorrow. Ah, well... it is what it is. Hey, what's your mailing address? Quinn wrote you a note. ;)
6. Thanks Pamela! I do love ehe Dodger Dog Shot and felt like a big time photographer, taking it. ;) Hee! Quinn did have his first-ever audition while he was here this visit. Who knows what will happen next year!!
7. Anna, anytime! Lucy is such a cool gal-pal for Quinn. He really enjoyed his time with her (and of course we had a blast with y'all). Cannot WAIT to get your recipe for that gluten-free chocolate stuffs. And, hey, I got you on MySpace, so it was a great night all the way around! Woo!
8. Ali, we definitely know that we get the BEST of Quinn and he gets the BEST of us. That's fun. We're such freakin' kids though that we worry about him getting into trouble when he goes home and calls small dogs robots or goes on the lookout for ninjas. *shrug* We live as kids. Can't help it. We don't really change gears just b/c he's here.
Oh, and this visit was the most "Hey, Bon, when are you guys going to have a baby" intensive of all previous Quinn visits. (That question wasn't posed by Quinn, although he did have a talk with his dad about what it'll be like when he comes here and there's a little brother or little sister for him to contend with.) Seriously, everyone (just one year after we've been hitched) has been all up in our business about when we'll be getting me knocked up... and this has especially been a topic during Quinn's visit.
The answer? *shrug* Eh... when we have the kind of money it takes to be responsible about bringing another life into our home. Right now, we're totally freelance. And even though Keith earned another couple grand for his rerun of "CSI: Miami" this week, it's still nothing stable enough to bring in a new person. Casting and writing is profitable... but not so much (and not so steadily) that another human should have to rely on that.
So...
We'll see.
I've got a good six years or so, still. ;)
Love y'all!
