At the risk of sounding like a yeswoman, I pretty much concur with what you did. I'll give my full discretion here: I think Joher's a pompous ass who got the verbal whooping he sorely deserved. He was patronizing you, and he did literally ask "exactly" where do you get off. If he can't handle your credentials and wants to focus on the what-if details, the eff him. His insulting you will get him less than nowhere.

That said, there's a definite sense of remorse when you zing or almost-exactly-zing someone with just what you wanted to say. Proud that you spoke your mind, but the manners make you feel bad. And everyone has to find their own balance with that, but sometimes I think it's enough to know that you have enough conviction every once in a while to defend yourself AND tell them to go suck eggs.
