Awoke this morning to the scratching sound of something in the wreath above my bed. It turned out to be a palmetto bug, which looks something like a giant roach but can fly, which promptly fell into bed with me. It looked something like this. From here.

Ew. Additional poison won’t work–they’re so big, they just get slowed down. In fact, that’s probably why it fell this morning. I need to get the branches hanging on the house trimmed back.
I took on a freelance copyediting job, so I’ll probably be lying low for a while. Exceptions:
To go see the latest XMen with the Knogglers Friday.
To see Stephanie and Alex should they come to town this weekend.
To go dancing with Jenny Saturday night.
Hang out by the pool for a bit Monday.
Attend fence-digging/goat BBQ party next weekend.
And probably any other excuse. I mean, really, how can I turn any of that down?
When I’m done with this manuscript, we will have a mint julep party!
X-Men? Knogglers? That sounds like a dangerous combo.
I was JUST telling Keith about the Palmetto Bug that woke me up (from a dead sleep) at GHP in Valdosta, in 1987. I told him I couldn’t believe that a critter so small could make such noise, nor could I believe a critter so big could find its way into my dorm room.
*shudder*
Definitely don’t miss such things!
Lemmeknow what you do that ends up ridding such creatures (big or small) from your home.
Ick!!!!! Those things CREEP me out!!!!
Palmetto bugs are American Cockroaches, from the genus Disgustingus. Seriously.
And also, did you say dancing?
