"bitch is the new black"

i’m significantly behind on my tv this week, but i’ve heard so much about this past week’s SNL. (heck, even hillary clinton made reference to it during this week’s debate.) i love tina fey, and i couldn’t pass up on watching her host the first episode since the strike. brilliant, i tell you! brilliant!

happy leap day!

it’s funny the things i retain in my memory. want to know what color jerrica benton’s outfit was on jem and the holograms? want to know what happened to each member of kevin arnold father and brother at the conclusion of the wonder year’s? want to know what album tom petty was working on when got frustrated, punched a wall, and broke his hand so badly they weren’t sure whether he’d be able to play the guitar again? i’m your gal. want to know how often a leap year occurs or the significance thereof? ask chip. or wikipedia.
chip schooled me on the ways of leap years — i had no idea it occurs every four years and that those four years coincide with the presidential elections in the usa. i also found out (not from chip) that a leap day is more likely to fall on a monday than a sunday, children born on leap day are called “leaplings”, and that there is a tradition that women may propose to men on leap day. fascinating!

oh, internets! how i've missed you!

it’s been a while since i last published in the land o’ blogs. it’s been a wee bit busy, and i promise i have lots of good excuses. since last time, i’ve announced i’m leaving my current job for another. this is a very good thing if nothing more than for my own sanity. i know this sounds weird, but i think chip & i are both just looking forward to being able to come home and talk about what happened that day like normal people. you know, i can come home from work and say things like, “oh my goodness! what happened to your lip, sweetie?” and not, “gross… i can’t believe that happened to your lip.” =)

Chip cut his lip

i’ll miss what i have now, but change is good.

jocelyn has invited me on several occasions to join her on a 5K. i’ve always wanted to run/walk one, but i wanted to get in better shape first. i worked hard this summer with the intent of trying one this fall, but i injured both my feet at different points and had to start from scratch. (i had problems with heel spurs and a nagging ankle injury leftover from my soccer player/dancer days.) i finally got around to the idea of running one again, and joined jocelyn and chip for the spartan 5k. i had so much fun, i wanted to run, run, run much more than i originally intended. chip was so mad because i made him run, run, run much more than he intended. (all was forgiven, though. he agreed to run/walk the barrow boogie a few weeks later.)

last sunday, chip and i hosted a brunch for a few pals. you can read about it here and here.

Sunday Brunch 2-24-2008 - 10

i realized last night that i’m suffering from the early onset of “crazy-eye bride” syndrome. (this should not be happening yet! there is still plenty of time!) the good news is that we’ve picked a caterer, cakes, bridesmaids dresses, chip’s female attendants’ dresses. save-the-date cards are printed, invitation envelopes are ordered, and we have “a plan” to get the registry situation wrapped up before the invitations go out.  the bad news is that there is always something left to do.

one bit of sad news to hit the fan, my junior year prom date died this week. eric was a super guy, and while we hadn’t been in touch in well over a year, it was definitely a long standing friendship. (the best friendships are always the ones where you can go for months or years without seeing each other, and the next time you find yourselves in the same room fall back into place right where you left off.) i don’t have much that’s nice to say about kentucky or its inhabitants, but i’ll definitely miss him.

so as not to end the entry with sad news, i am very excited to be part of the Team Triplets Cheering Squad. chip, carrieoke, and carrieoke’s sister are all part of a spelling bee this weekend.
