it had to happen eventually

after much obsessing (far too long, frankly) with the show, the game, and the leagues, i finally broke down and bought the roller derby gear!

i am very excited.  i didn’t just buy the skates, i bought the whole shebang — skates, helmet, knee pads, elbow pads, wrist guards, mouth guard, outdoor wheels (to practice), and various and sundry tools, bearings, and wd-40-like lubricants.  yeah, we’re talking total dork status here.

things i have learned in three days of owning said skates:

  1. just because i have the gear, it doesn’t mean i can actually roller skate.
  2. uh oh, i really can’t roller skate
  3. OMG, MY BUTT IS HUGE IN THIS VIDEO!

i’m very excited it’s friday! what a difference from the start of the week.

it’s time for another big weekend! i’ve got plans to run/walk another race with friends saturday morning. (wanna come? i’m registering that morning.) the professor has a big birthday shindig planned for saturday night. easter dinner (or is easter supper? whichever is the correct southern terminology for “big lunch that requires a nap afterwards”) with the future in-laws on sunday.

it feels strange that easter is so early this year. i’m not quite in the mood to dye eggs, and i’m staying away from all the sweets. i think chip is hoping the easter bunny brings a mac mini. (sorry, chip. i hear the easter bunny loves the vista. BIG john hodgman fan. in fact, sort of resembles him, just with bunny ears.) =)

what’s everyone else up to this weekend?

Happy St. Patty's Day!

this week was spring break, and i finally decided to take a little bit of vacation time away from work. i headed to my parents’ house the first weekend to visit with my family and to get fitted for my wedding dress. (it is beautiful!)

i came home for a day before heading down to savannah to celebrate st. patty’s day with friends. the parade was looooong this year, but it was, as always, a blast!

Happy St. Patty's Day!

more than anything, i just enjoyed visiting with friends that i haven’t seen in ages.
