a look back at 2008

so last new year’s day, the spynotebook tech club met for breakfast at five star day on the east side to discuss our resolutions for the new year. chip never got around to blogging the actual resolutions, but thank goodness for gmail (and the fact that i never remember to delete anything) because he did manage to email them to us and i still have them. i haven’t had a chance to compare notes with the other tech club members, but overall i think we did pretty well. here’s the list:

2008

  1. More breakfast meetings – we had a few tech club meetings and a few book club meetings. not sure if there were more of them 2008, but there was not a lack of breakfast meetings, either. check?
    Official Technology Meeting
  2. Auction – chip and i attended the barnett’s auction. we even bought a flagpole magazine rack and a comic book rack that was highly sought after by our fellow bizarro wuxtry-ites. check!
    Comic Book Rack
  3. Spartan 5k – jocelyn, chip, and i did the spartan 5k. we picked up tera’s shirt. check!
  4. Formal Affair – chip & i got married! check!

  5. Concert - chip & i saw the bangles in las vegas. check!
    Honeymoon - 227
  6. Musicals – jocelyn saw annie twice (and snagged a shiny ring after the second show). check!
  7. Trader Joe’s on a Saturday – i’m sure jocelyn & tera have this one covered for us. (chip & i still have not been.)  check!

i’m not sure when or where the tech club will be meeting to go over resolutions for 2009, but we should go ahead and make plans. breakfast meeting anyone?

our version of christmas lights

for christmas, chip’s mom & stepdad offered to bring in an electrician to fix our lighting situation at the house. (when it got to the point where we had 1 sometimes-working-outdoor-light, we knew we needed to get an electrician.) the electrician came yesterday and now we have quite the sweet (and brightly lit) setup.
here is chip under our new carport light:

we also have 2 new working lights in the kitchen:

and a new light in the hall and another in bathroom:

we’ve also got a new front porch light and we’re working on getting the lamp post back up and running. the best part is that all the switches are straightened out and make sense now!
suffice it to say, the house has been a-glow! chip and i have been teasing each other about having to squint because it’s so bright. who needs a tree when your whole house is full of special christmas lights?
