For those of you who remember “More High Fives in ’95”, I can only ask if you can believe that was 10 years ago?” Anyhoo. I have been toying and tweaking some resolutions. I give them a few days to gel and so I haven’t really decided what I’m going with yet.<\/p>\n
Let’s recap last year, resolution-wise. I had three.<\/p>\n
1) Make one new friend a month. Invite them all to a party at the end of the year.<\/em><\/p>\n 2) Spice up my life.<\/em> I decided this while listening to the Spice Girls at a New Year’s party.<\/p>\n 3) Stop listening to “Hey Ya!”.<\/em><\/p>\n Okay. I had to give up #3 before the New Year’s party was over last year, so we will focus on 1) and 2).<\/p>\n New friends. I made new friends in the ’04. I started off strong and met Mark through bookcult<\/a> in January. I met Sam (who was then Sarah to me) around the same time<\/a> but started hanging out with her later in the year<\/a>. I was off to a great start!<\/p>\n But, then I stopped meeting people. I hired Shawn to replace Cash later in the year but he HAS to hang out with me because I’m his boss. So, that’s three. I decided to drop the party idea because as much as I like Shawn and Sam and Mark, I think a party with just the four of us would have been kind of weird.<\/p>\n Spicing up my life. Was this vague enough? I think so. For a while my life seemed to turn into someone else’s. It prompted Self-Help Susan to write me and ask what the heck was going on in my life. I painted a room pumpkin<\/a>, I was going to drive-in movie theatres<\/a>, I was hanging out at Chuck-E-Cheese<\/a>, and taking a road trip with a girl I barely knew to pick up a Skee Ball machine<\/a>.<\/p>\n Spicy indeed.<\/p>\n Then fall came and things started to slow down and then BAM! I had a new roommate and was hanging out with the freshly divorced Drama Jenny and we had the hurricane<\/a> and it was pretty fun.<\/p>\n It all kind of went to hell around November 2 but we won’t dwell on that.<\/p>\n So, resolutions achieved for the most part.<\/p>\n 2005 is going to be a retrospective year. I shall continue the spice but instead of pinning all my plans on these so-called “new people” that I am trying to meet, I am going to find some people from my past that I should (or shouldn’t) reconnect with. That’s what Project: Old School is all about.
