Remember last year when Cathy, Carrie. and I were in the Spelling Bee? Well, it’s that time of year again!<\/p>\n
We will be participating in the Spirited Spell-off Spectacle on February 28, 2009 at Athens Tech.<\/p>\n
This is a fund raiser for Athens-Clarke Literacy Council<\/a> which is a nonprofit, volunteer organization that promotes and supports learning opportunities for adult residents in the Athens community. They believe that developing strong literacy skills enables learners to improve their chances for gainful employment, self-fulfillment, civic participation, and successful parenting.<\/p>\n Last year, our time raised over $800 which beat everyone else and we’d like to donate even MORE this year. You know why we can?<\/p>\n It’s a little thing called the internets. In other words, YOU!<\/p>\n Last year, every person who donated via my blog<\/a> or Carrie’s<\/a> was entered into a raffle for wonderful prizes. I’m not sure what Carrie is doing this year, but I have some ideas for mine.<\/p>\n Last year, Sara won (via my blog) and received a box containing books featuring such diverse subject matter such as Kenny Rogers, David Hasselhoff, and Joey Lawrence. Hey, yo, reading is fundamental. There is no telling what you might win this year! Art? Fan fiction? A visit from Chip?
