ATHENS, Ga. \u2014 The Athens Regional Library System Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the appointment of Beth McIntyre as the new Executive Director. The decision was finalized during the board\u2019s meeting on January 16.<\/p>\n

McIntyre has 34 years of library experience, and has been the Executive Director of the Piedmont Regional Library System (PRLS) since 2011. Under her leadership. PRLS became one of Georgia\u2019s first fines-free libraries, secured significant funding increases for staffing and electronic resources, and launched the Pop-up Rolling Library to bring library services to festivals, daycares, senior centers, and prisons.<\/p>\n

\u201cI truly love serving as a public library director in Georgia,\u201d said McIntyre. \u201cSurveys show that most people immediately think of books when they think of libraries. I think of people. I believe that a strong library is essential for fostering a vibrant community.”<\/p>\n

McIntyre will officially assume her new role on March 17, bringing her expertise and passion for community-focused library services to Athens. She is eager to collaborate with staff, trustees, and community partners to build on the library system\u2019s strong foundation and explore new opportunities to enhance access, innovation, and outreach for all residents.<\/p>\n
