I’m very excited about going to see Die Fledermaus next week. Opera! In Athens! Chip tells me this opera is what made Batman become Batman. I know the name because I have cultured friends who called their cat’s mousey toy “die fledermaus.” The cat is named Dashiell Hammett. He’s black and white.
I got seats for us on the front row of the Mezzannine (Nosebleed Section), so I am sorely tempted to buy these awesome opera glasses. I mean, I could just spring a bit extra for better seats, but no, I’d rather get opera glasses, and with a lorgnette no less!

See, and *I* know the name because of the “Friends” episode in which we meet Ross’ second wife, Emily, for the first time.
She, Rachel’s boss’ daughter, is supposed to go with Rachel to the opera while visiting New York, but instead flits off to Vermont with Ross while Rachel tries to get into Joshua’s swanky new night club.
I seriously need to turn off the TV sometimes.

Ooh, I’m so jealous. We apparently have opera here in Atlanta, but I haven’t ventured out to it yet. One of these days…
And how can it be that I have no recollection of the Friends episode that Bonnie mentioned? I’m quite positive that I’ve seen them all. Or so I thought until about 5 minutes ago.
