Corabelle and Jewel have done it!
Their very first eggs! I am going to eat these in the morning, when, hopefully, two more will be lying in the coop. I’m so proud! And they used the little nest shelf I built, which makes retrieving the eggs much, much easier. I’m glad they’ve taken to it. I ordered more fencing from Lowe’s today so I can build a more practical fence and larger grazing/pooping area.
Here’s a look at my progress on Central Park Hoody, which is stalled until my new ball winder arrives and I can start to dismantle Tubey. The back is finished. The middle cables are actually flipped, because I cannot read a chart, but I don’t think it really matters. I tried short-rows on the shoulders, and I think I did them right. I had to kind of cobble directions, but found this link useful, suggested by a poster on the CPH Knitalong.
While the hoodie is sitting, I’ve picked up Ms. Marigold. I am done with the body, but still have to do the finishing edge at the bottom, along the neckline, and on the sleeves, but I’m stuck because I think I want to modify the pattern. I am not a huge fan of knitting ribbing, and I want something a little more girly for this piece, to go with the lavenderish color and alpaca silk fanciness. I tried seed stitch, which I love, but it just did not look right with this needle size. I’ve ordered Nicky Epstein’s Knitting on the Edge for some ideas. Any suggestions in the meantime?
(Yes, I’m spending like a fiend: ball winder, knitting book, fencing. And, while I’m confessing, a trip today to Thyme after Thyme. But I justify it in my head because I’ve done so much freelance work–though, really, after taxes that will just about cover the work done on my car in January. Plus last month, for the first time since I moved back to Athens, I spent less than I brought home. That deserves a celebration! Nay requires it, to reinforce the good behavior! The more I spend, the better I will save! I should also go buy many baskets for all those eggs I’m going to have to count. Oh, wait, I already did.)
