As I wrote, I sat at home for most of yesterday. I have been reading this book about a girl with a crush on Jack Wagner. I bought it for Stephanie but then lent it to Scooley and now I am reading it. It is obviously a book for the gals and I realize I have no clue as to what books guys in their 30s read. Can anyone out there tell me?
Around 5:00 last night, Scooley came over and we sat around for a little while and then she and I went to Zim’s. After that, we went to Dama’s to help her get ready for the party. Dama’s housemate Claudia was graduating from art school yesterday and had her exit show. There were a lot of girls getting ready over there but I only learned a few of their names. Claudia’s older sister, Elizabeth, seemed cool. She used to write for People and now writes freelance in NYC.
Eventually, we made it to the exit show and stayed for about half an hour. Claudia had a series of portraits that were embroidered, It was pretty cool. We went back to the party and sat through the early lameness of nobody being there until we realized that it was turning into a party of lots of people that I didn’t know. Normally, this would be fine but it was a graduation party and these people hadn’t seen each other for a while. It was all about catching up and not meeting new people.
Susan has been cutting down on her alcohol intake and she was not having a very good time around all the increasingly inebriated party guests. We took off and drove around for a while. We were going to come back to my house to watch a movie but she was hungry so I bought her a Waffle House waffle. Our long evening was over about 3 minutes to midnight. I would have been so proud if she had still been in high school with a curfew.
We did have an argument at the party which bears mentioning. I forget how it came up but she said something about comic books not being a form of literature. Grrr. Luckily, Elizabeth had my back and argued much more intellegently than I was able to at the time because I was too busy shooting daggers at Susan. So, now I have to find some comics for Scooley to read.
