Looks Like Crap

Does everybody’s Charter Cable look like crap on channels like E! and We and Comedy Central? I am very happy with my new internet (was getting 700KB on my DSL and now am getting 2.9MB on the cable) but quality of the TV signal looks awful. I guess with the faster net, I can always just download HD copies of anything I need to keep.

EDIT: Modem was out all night. Storm? Does this happen often? But, TV didn’t go out during storm which is a plus.

Yes, Chipper with the Charter dsl the internet will go out at the drop of a hat. My friends with it use to make fun of my dial up until they constantly had to come over and borrow it when their fancier cable would go down. Good luck with that!!

    At least I had TV.

I’ve had Charter DSL for two years, and I’ve only had it go out once. No problems with with the quality of any channels, either. But then, I’ve never spoken ill of it…

    Chip,

I suspect what you’re seeing is the consequence of the cable in your neighborhood being forced to carry more IP traffic that it is rated to. The space was initially reserved on those lines before Charter expanded it’s basic lineup (so I understand it), as such, the new, higher channels have a tendency to suffer from bleedover in lines (or cable swtiches) that haven’t been replaced.

I would advise you to ask one of the Charter Techs that used to hang out on the Athens Broadband List, but I haven’t seen them around much so I don’t know what else to tell you.

Well, besides the fact that charter sucks donkey dick, but you seem to know that already 😉

p.s. i fully understand your position, however, it sucks that i pay $30/month for bellsouth just so that I can turn around and pay $60/month to speedfactory for my sweet, sweet 3Mb/384kb connection. Fortuantely for me, I have a roommate who’s as addicted to teh intarweb as me…
