The ordinance bans smoking indoors in nearly every place that is open to the public, except private clubs or meeting rooms, private or semiprivate hospital or nursing home rooms with the permission of a doctor, designated hotel rooms, tobacco stores and employee-only smoking areas with separate ventilation systems.
