Class

mary frances is taking “hero myths and harry potter” this fall when she starts college. i’m very jealous. i think i might have to teach that class at my school sometime. of course, I am still building my syllabus for a geek class in my head where you read a lot of comics and watch a lot of genre television and then, you know, analyze it and junk. That’s verbatim from my course description, of course. i was asked to sponsor a “geek club” last year which never caught on. i think this might be the year.

have I mentioned that it is hot, yet?

I am soooo jealous of Mary Frances. I might start school all over again just to try and study Harry Potter as a class. I’m definitely telling my sister this one! Thanks Chip

The best week I had as a student at AA was freshman year interim week when Mrs. Leary taught a few days on Star Wars, viz Campbell’s ideas on mythical archetypes. Since then I have learned there is no field of the humanities in which Star Wars is not illuminating.
