Saturday morning, Kate and I decided we needed to drive around town and buy crap from people that we didn’t need. I only spent $10.50 and Kate spent over $40. I was very proud of my purchases. Some guy bought ALL the comics at one garage sale right before me. That pissed me off but I survived. He had forgotten two of them, one which I thought was very topical:
I also bought a $1 croquet set, a student nurse patch, several books, several retro repro food and drink posters, a miniture round table (as in knights of the), and a Felix the Cat duffle bag.
My favorite thing that I bought was a framed cover from some sheet music.
It’s called “Are You From Dixie? Cause I’m From Dixie, Too”. I told Tess last night that if I move to Seattle then I was hanging that in the hallway where all guests could see it and I was wearing Matlock seersucker suits exclusively.
I have a feeling my Southerness is inversely proportional to my proximity to Athens. The farther north and west I go, the redder my neck is gonna get.

After the sales, we picked up kristin at her hotel and we had a great brunch at the Grit. I hardly ever get the pancakes but they were raspberry almond and I really couldn’t resist. Then we went to Airee’s flea market and there was cool stuff but it was HOT.
We came back to my house and Kristin burned CDs until her Dad was done at the conference. I picked up new eyeglasses and then last night Jocelyn and Kate and I had a quick drink at Room 13 and I came home and crashed.
Today, I went iPod shopping with my Mom and we both got tiny ipod shuffles because they were on sale and it makes a lot more sense for me to wear that when I am walking up and down Millege or in the woods or whatever than my $400 ipod that is all fragile and breaky.
This afternoon I braved the 102 heat index and biked around 5 miles or so on the Greenway. I did much better on hills today so we are seeing some progress. I might even go back out tonight when it gets a bit cooler but we’ll see.
Jocelyn and Tera spied me riding on Oconee St. and took a picture of a very hot and sweaty Chip. We’ll hope this doesn’t show up on her flicker page.
All for now!
Um – why isn’t there a pic of you with the new glasses?
And – you are even considering moving? How do I not know this? We never talk anymore!!!!!
HOW many croquet sets does a Chipper need, for cryin’ out loud?
And yes, I agree with the theory that you’ll get more redneck when you kick it PST. I say “y’all” much more now than when I lived in Athens or Hotlanta.
