Grr.

Last week, I was at Fry’s in Atlanta and bought a Hauppauge PVR-150. At least, I thought I did. I finally opened the card this afternoon only to discover it was an HVR-1600. I was buying this to add a second tuner to my mythtv box at home. I had been waiting for a long time to buy one because I wanted one that was completely compatible. I was excited to get a PVR-150 because I knew it would be almost plug-and-play.

I spent about 2 hours trying to get it to work before I realized it was the wrong card.

I had bought an open box card because it was a few bucks cheaper. When I realized it was the wrong card, I assumed that the person who had returned it just messed up and returned the wrong card or was trying to mess with Fry’s.

So, I drove to Fry’s (which is an HOUR away) and switched out the card for another PVR-150.

Only, it turns out, this was an HVR-1600 also. Which doesn’t work in Linux.

So, I have spent ALL day working on something only to be a little worse off than before.

It’s almost enough to make me go buy a Tivo.
