Funny How Things Work

I wasn’t going to go to AthFest. I was supposed to go to Warner Robins to help little sister move into a new house. The house isn’t ready so we have had to postpone until next weekend. Since I have very little money, I was going to hang out at home and play on the computer. Talked to Alex and sort of Stephanie on the phone for a few minutes and they weren’t doing anything.

Around 8:15 or so, I realized that if I didn’t go out I was going to be bored all night long. Cracker was playing for free on the outdoor stage and they were an actual real band. I grabbed a Vanilla Coke and drove downtown. I actually found a parking place without too much trouble which was amazing.

I wandered around looking for people to talk to. I knew that Dama and Susan were going to Element to see some bands but that involved money to buy an armband. I was too cheap to buy one of the weekend passes so I was sticking outside. I watched a little bit of The Dexter Romweber Duo and looked at some art around there. I spied Sandy and Lawrence from work and talked to Pat Frye from the old IRC days. I decided to go get a good standing spot for Cracker and walked over to where I saw a couple of Acad alums, Erik and Darius. I was chatting with those guys about how I was just sticking to the outdoor stuff. Some guy turned around and asked me if I wanted an armband. I told him that I would love one. He wasn’t going to use it and had gotten it from a sponsor.

Then I saw Nina and Anne from school and they came and stodd near us. Cracker was great. I don’t know them well but the show was pretty energetic and the crowd loved them. I guess I knew “Eurotrash Girl”, “Low”, and “Teen Angst”. During the encore, Charles came over and we chatted for a while.

Around 10:45 or so, I wandered over to Element with my new free wrist band. I hung out with drunk Dama and drunk Susan for the rest of the night. They were there to see the Spins who were pretty good. I met an odd assortment of people that are part of Dama’s world. After a band and a half there, the gals wanted pizza so we went to Little Italy.

Got home around 2ish and read some “Transmetropolitan” off the computer before I fell asleep. I woke up on the couch around 3:30 and got into bed. I turned on that funky radio show about the paranormal and got a little freaked out as I fell asleep again.

Got up. Downloaded some Cracker. Wrote this blog.

Now that I have the wristband, I will probably go back out tonight to catch some more bands. We’ll see.
