iPod stuff

I like my new iPod. It’s not changing my life or anything but it holds all my music and I just found iPodSync which will synch my calendar and contacts between Outlook and the iPod. Pretty groovy.

Most of my issues with it are mainly issues with my computer and it. Roxy (my windows machine) keeps getting iPod and some shared folders from Harriet mixed up. I have rearranged some drive letters and I think it is going to be OK.

I recently resubscribed to Salon and as part of the deal, I can download audio versions of the New York Times every day. I was looking at other stuff at Audible and they offer downloads of some NPR programs that I like for a fee. Yes, this stuff is free on the radio, but it would be convenient to have it on the iPod to listen to at work or in the car or where ever else I might want to.

Does NPR.org now charge for its audio? I sometimes find interesting things there that I would have missed otherwise.

iTunes, not iPod, changed my life. No more splurging for a $15 CD unless it’s someone I really respect like Guster or Rush. I’ve been buying songs like mad, and I’ve still only spent the equivalent of two CDs.

I’m sure you can still hear a stream from the website. But Audible let’s you easily download the shows on demand and take them with you.
