TV Barn Ticker: Linda Lavin on “The O.C.”
Golden Globe-winning actress Linda Lavin will guest-star as Sophie, Sandy Cohens mother, on THE O.C. Wednesday, March 31 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.
After Sandy learns of a planned visit from his mother Sophie, the Cohens prepare for a Passover visit from the Nana like none before. Summer, determined to fit right in with the Nana and the Cohens, does a bit of preparation on her own. When the Nana arrives, however, she delivers news that will send the family reeling. Meanwhile, Ryan determined to find Marissa after she disappears, discovers her in an unlikely hiding place.
In the 1970s, Lavin became a household name as the waitress/mom in the sitcom Alice. The series ran nine seasons (1976-1985) with Lavin nabbing two Golden Globes and an Emmy nomination for her efforts. Following the success of Alice, Lavin focused her attentions on the stage, and earned renewed respect for her diversified Broadway work in Broadway Bound, Death Defying Acts, The Diary of Anne Frank and The Tale of the Allergists Wife. Recently she appeared in Carol Burnetts autobiographical play Hollywood Arms portraying Burnetts grandmother.
