If my life were a TV show (and who are we kidding, it practically is), then next week would be an extreme home makeover edition. My kitchen is by far the most boring room in the house and also the one that everybody sees. That doesn’t seem right, does it?
So, something must be done.
Shawn, Jenny, Kate, and I had dinner at Thai of Athens and Jenny offered her assistance during Spring Break next week. Kate and I assessed the amount of work and we have a couple of options.
I can be lazy and just do my anti-nook (the kitchen itself seems more nookish and where the table is seems more anti-nookish). That would involve some wall paper removal but a minimal amount of actual painting. Probably less than an hour. That is hardly worth going to the paint store for. So maybe I should do the whole kitchen.
But do I really want to get into the cabinet painting?
Yes and no.
I have at least 15 cabinet doors in the kitchen. Should I have 15 of you each paint one of the doors any way you want and hope for the best? Part of me thinks yes and then the other parts imagine what Kate would actually decoupage on her door and I would probably get like 6 cabinet door socks from the knogglers.
Or I could choose a theme like super-heroes and have really cool Green Lantern and Flash logos but after door 12 or 13 we’re looking at Ambush Bug and Power Pack.
I have two pieces of glass from an old Dig-Dug machine so I could go for a video game theme…
Endless possibilities.
I will post some before pictures when my camera gets charged up.
If you have any suggestions, warnings, or need to help, let me know.

Send me a cabinet door to paint. I promise it’ll be pretty.
I think you’re overestimating the amount of time the cabinet doors will take and underestimating the wallpaper work. It will make you want to kill anyone who’s ever ever in the history of the world put up wallpaper.
I have watched enough “Extreme Makeovers: Home Addition” and Home and Garden Television to be an expert on kitchens. Do you need me to make renderings?
I realize on reading that it does look like I meant that I could take the wallpaper down in an hour. I know from watching Jocelyn that that process takes MUCH longer. I hate wallpaper and this is the last room in the house to have it.
Robert suggested several super-hero logos over in the comments of the LJ side of things.

If Jenny would make renderings, that would be super duper.
And yes, Steph can certainly help.
Anyone want to go on a fact finding mission to the Lowe’s or Home Depot?
Just keep in mind that it takes forever for cabinets to dry and cure well enough to set stuff back on them (that is, if you are going to paint the insides), so that means everything out of your cabinets for days. I love all the theme ideas. Would love to participate! Oh well. At least post pictures when done, please!
