As those of you outside the Athens area may not know, 90.5 WUOG is currently off the air. They currently do not have a license from the FCC. I had read on Athensworld that it was a snafu on the FCC side. At dinner tonight, the word from the Clan McDougald was that one of the grad students had filed for renewal electronically but the FCC has no record of this renewal. The word is that even the letters are available for the taking. (I just checked this at the FCC and the letters are NOT available, but they are also no longer assigned to UGA). I would think that there would have been some way to check on the status of the electronic submission. But, my limited experience with the FCC has kind of sucked so who knows what happened.
All of this reminds me that we’re trying to get an LPFM started and we are extremely behind schedule. Now would have been a very good time for a debut. Many of you have mentioned that you want to help and I think we should all get together in the next few weeks and figure out how to go from 0 to 100 (watts) in the next 6 months.
I’m going to email some of you soon but you can email me at chip@athenstown.com if you don’t hear from me in a timely fashion.
I have to go get a sangria stain out of jeans now.
Funny–when Shanna was here last week she asked me what happened to 90.5. I had no idea. I don’t expect I can help much with the radio stuff, but let me know if I’m wrong…
Y’know, that mess would’ve never happened while *I* was grad advisor at WUOG. Pff!
😉
Can I help long distance?
