Wheee!

So, after Ron brought over his Wii a few weeks ago, it was pretty much decided that everyone there was going to purchase a Wii the first chance we got. I decided yesterday to be very methodical about it and during lunch I made a list of everywhere in Athens that might sell one.

I thought that if I got in the habit of calling them every day, I would maybe find one eventually. So, I decided I would call GameStop (first on my list, that place by Target) and see if they had any.

Chip: I don’t suppose you have any Wiis in stock.
Game Stop Guy: Actually, we do.
C: Really.
GSG: Yeah.
C: Can you hold one.
GSG: No, first come, first serve.
C: I’ll be there in a minute!

Since (luckily) it was still during lunch, I told Scrappy and we both went to the Game Stop so we could buy two of them, if they had them. Both Missy and my Mom wanted them also so I thought I would try.

We got there and Scrappy went inside to wait in line while I parked and then went in.

When we got the first of the line, this happened:

Scrappy: I heard you had Wiis in stock.
GSG: (puts one on counter)
S: (gestures to me) We would both like one.
GSG: Only one per customer.
S: But we are two customers.
GSG: (accusing) Same household?
S: Different households. We just rode together. (but, we were buying it together. He didn’t need to know that. Exact words, Greg Brady. I’m good at the exact words game.)
GSG: (suspicious) OK then. (looks at the college kid behind me) Did you want one also?
College Kid: Yeah!
GSG: We’re gonna be sold out by time we get to you.
CK: You’re kidding. Man! (leaves store, broken)

So, I feel guilty about the college kid. But, you know, not really because we were in line a while before he came in the store.

Wii-mote at the Wal-Mart

After work, I actually used the rest of my list and called 7 or 8 places to find that East Side Wal-Mart was putting a box of nunchucks and remotes on the shelf RIGHT THEN, so, the gym was skipped and controllers were bought so we are ready to play!

You did that college kid a favor. He should study for his bright future. Congrats on the find!
