A Lack of Pictures

There has been a lack of pictures lately on the Spynotebook. So, here is a 9-In-1.

Click to make all larger and junk.

It is (in order):

1. A shelf in my kitchen with a Yoda jug, Devlin art, Beatles dolls and 4.5 of my 10 Plague Finger Puppets.
2. Achsa’s painting of City Hall.
3. Our Skee-Ball machine.
4. Adventure Comics # 356 hanging in my hallway.
5. The food at Jenny’s Oscar Party.
6. My new print of Edward Hopper’s “Chop Suey”.
7. Another shelf with Curt Swan art from Superman # 390 and an autographed picture of Erin Grey in her flight suit.
8. Spider-Man shower curtain rings.
9. R2D2 string art from the late 70s.

I like to think it shows that I am a geek that still gets invited to parties with girls.

What A Wiki Is

:courtney: asked in the comments about what a wiki is.

One line answer: A wiki is a website that allows anyone to add and edit the content.

Longer one here : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wiki

In our case, it will be a website about Athens now and Athens then. Assuming the now will eventually be the then, I am counting current events as history. Therefore, if someone wants to write about current bands and people, that is as acceptable as writing about Bludwine and Moses Waddel (pronounced waddle, not wah-dell, FYI).

For instance, I asked Beej if he would write a bit about Budwine since I know he knows a bit about the history. Someone musically inclined can write about the music scene.

If someone comes along who knows a LOT about the Squalls then they can create or flesh out that entry. Or the Tree or the Cannon or the Iron Horse. Maybe I will write about the day the mall opened and someone can write about the Pavillion (the failed downtown “mall”).

That is what a wiki is in this case.

So, Courtney, dig out those Athens History notes!

No copyrighted material please.

I have to go to a conference thingie now.

Later.

Wood and Home Fries

I’m not sure how much whittling will get done (since I don’t even have any whittling supplies) but the first meeting of the Athens Coalition of the Whittling will meet tomorrow morning.

You know those old guys who used to eat at Strickland’s every day and those dudes who are at Zim’s every morning? Don’t you want to be a part of the beginnings of something which in a few month’s time will be an old Athens tradition?

That’s what I thought. So, sign up at the above link and we’ll see ya tomorrow.

Come ready to discuss the weather, your rumatiz actin’ up, and the young whippersnappers and their loud rock and roll music.

Don’t be noncommittal, it’s cool to whittle!*

* first order of business is new catchphrase.

Just Like They Watched The Oscars Before Electricity

As many in the Athens Blogosphere are aware, :jenny: and Hamil both had Oscar parties last night. This was convenient because the power went out at Jenny’s just after Antonio Banderas and Carlos Santana performed “Al Otro Lado Del Rio”. Thank god we got to see that. Thankfully, Hamil was able to fill us in on the winners via cell phone as we sat in the dark in front of the candles and the fireplace. I don’t think he was lying to me when he said that Mary-Kate Olsen won for Best Supporting Actress in “New York Minute”. I should totally check that out online. I thought it seemed odd.

So, we sat in the dark and talked about movies which was probably much more enjoyable than watching Hillary Swank and Clint Eastwood accept awards.

In attendence were: (based on seating order) Chris from New York, Stephanie, Chip, Kate, Mary Jessica, Robert, Sanni, Jenny, High Energy Jenny, John, and Shawn.

Many prizes were won but I received my very own copy of “From Justin to Kelly” and MJ and Robert took home “Dream A Little Dream” so I think this Oscar Night will be remembered for at least let’s say, an additional hour and a half at some time in the future.

Favorite quotes from the evening:

“What’s up with you and people from ‘Wings’?”

“I’m like an Oscar Savant”

“Orlando… he’s so cute but so tiny.”

“Duh, Movies are dumb and books are good.”

“I was threatened by Jenny’s party until I realized she wouldn’t actually have the Oscars”.

Stephanie left when she realized the power was not coming back on. But the rest of us were there until about 12:00. Overall, I think the party was a success despite the fact that we missed the last hour of the Oscars. At least we got to see Side Show Bob perform with the Counting Crows. And now that Robert has pointed out that Scarlett Johanson always looks like someone just gave her a complex math problem to solve, I will never see her the same way again.

Lunchtrays

On her blog today, Jocelyn said she wanted lunchtrays.

I found some online also which she might look at before she buys the Pottery Barn ones.

Those are nice and all but I think if I was going to get them, I would have to go with the penitentiary-tested trays. Dinners at my place can get r-o-u-g-h.

Friday Night Downtown

I’m at the Hot Corner Coffee. I came home early from work again and slept the entire afternoon trying to bore the sickness out of me. I actually feel a lot better other than a minor nose sniffling. I figured I needed to get out of my house or I would continue sitting on my couch.

So, now, I am sitting on ANOTHER couch doing pretty much the same thing. But, since there are strangers aorund me I have convinced myself that I am doing something.

Flivver and Tinsley were here so I caught up on their so-called lives away from school. Apparently, the school parents ring is all abuzz about some hostage sitch on West Broad. This meshes with a phone call from my mom telling me to avoid the Holiday Inn Express area because there were a bunch of cops and detectives. So, if any of you classic city bloggers out there know the deal, let me know.

No plans for tomorrow day but the rest of the weekend is packed. I am going to Canopy to watch Kate dance and then maybe going to Little Kings if I can confirm that Mark is DJing. Then Sunday is :jenny:’s Oscar Party.

All for now.

They are only making 2000 so you probably won’t get one. But, a girl can dream.

I came home from work early today because I am afraid what I thought was allergies may prove to be something more sinister (or annoying, at least). Kate is over now watching “Lost” and I am looking at some of the funny books I bought at Wuxtry.
