Valentine’s

Soul Pizza. Oh my.

hey y’all,

Happy Valentine’s Day and all of that.

Beth and I ended up having most of our Valentining done yesterday because she was incredibly anxious to give me my awesome present which was a Roku box. It has been a lot of fun so far and I have only hacked it a little.

I got her “You Don’t Know Jack” for the Wii and a promise of a massage at the massage place of her choice. The decision is a lot harder now that Happy Spa has been shut down. It’s just as much fun as it was on my little Toshiba laptop. Best game ever.

We had lunch at Transmet but did not get the soul pizza. Gravy, fried chicken, collards and potatoes. I wonder if anyone has ever really ordered one.

That is all for now. Just checking in.

Oh yeah, Swiffer turned two today. Still acts like a puppy. When does that stop?

Ending January Awesomely

So, we bought a Ms. Pac-Man.

Driving her home

Did we need one? No.

Do we have anywhere to put it? No, not really.

Is it really cool? Why yes, it is.

The Heritage Amusement Company was going out of business (I assume) and was getting rid of all their stock. This is the place that was behind the Nite Owl Lounge on the Atlanta Highway. It appeared that people came from all around the area because it was crowded. Crowd Crowd

Pinball machines, slot machines, juke boxes, cars, cigarette machines, video games, and video poker machines. If you could stick a quarter in it, it was for sale.

We got there early and looked around. Immediately, I wanted a video game but I had no idea how much they would go for. When the pinball machines started going for $2000 – $3000, we decided it was too rich for our blood. But, a Star Trek one would have been pretty sweet.
Star Trek Pinball Baywatch Pinball

We left and went to La Parrilla for lunch, bought some crap at Target, and got comics at Wuxtry. We got home and had just settled in to watch “Heavy” when @millia13 called to say that they had just gotten to all the video games and that there were some deals.
We got back in the care and drove back out there to check it out. What I really wanted was a Ms. Pac-Man/Galaga but those were all going for $500-$800. I happened to be standing by a Ms. Pac-Man that was a little beat up when the auctioneer got around to it and nobody was really bidding. I bid $150 and ended up getting it. We stayed a bit longer hoping to get one in better shape but nothing else went for as cheap.

Of course, the next challenge was getting it home. We borrowed Keith’s truck the next day and Scrappy and I went to fetch the new baby.
Picking up the new toy

Our neighboor helped us unload it at home (thank goodness we have nice neighbors). At first I was annoyed that the sound didn’t work, but thanks to the 1982 Ms. Pac-Man service guide we discovered stuffed inside, I learned how to turn up the sound and set it for free games.
Ms. Pac-Man at home

Now that we have Skee-Ball *and* Ms. Pac-Man, I think the next step is either :

1. Outdoor wooden roller coaster
or
2. That game where you shoot water and make the clowns hat go up high

Y’all let us know when you want to come over and play.

The world is my china shop.

Did I drop a printer? Did I knock down a shelf and break a cat ornament? Did I spill (i can’t believe I am typing this) diet PEPSI on my shirt?

If you answered yes to any of the above the items, then you would be correct about the last hour or so.

Yay Friday!

A Whole New World

Not really actually.

But I did totally delete everything in my Spynotebook folder on our webhost. Stuff had been piling up in there for years and years. Sort of a winter cleaning.

So, some blogs are missing. Other blogs have shown back up. There are lots of broken links.

All will be fixed in time.

Braved the streets. Made it to work.

Streets still icy

Even though the roads were still crappy, UGA opened at 11:00 today. The worst part for us is our neighborhood. We have lots of trees which create lots of shade. The ice loves the shade. But, no incidents so that is good. Swiffer may wonder where we are but he’ll figure it out soon enough.

Made it it the pub

Yesterday, we walked to Five Points and that was actually pretty tough. The sidewalks are still solid ice. We ate lunch at the Royal Peasant and then got drinks from Golden Pantry and some chips from Earth Fare. The essentials.

The Golden Pantry Snowman wanted us to know they were out of pizza.

No Pizza

That was our big journey out for the day.

I assume that work will start at a normal time tomorrow. I think Swiffer may go spend the day at Pawtropolis so he can run around and get some exercise. I probably should do that too. Being stuck at home for several days is not really conducive to weight loss.

Oh my. More Snow Days.

Still Crappy Outside

I’m writing this on the beginning of our third day off from work due to the snow. I don’t ever remember UGA ever being closed for this long. We have been watching lots of TV and eating lots of Trader Joes frozen foods. Swifter seems bored, annoyed, and excited by the ice at different times. Me too, actually.

Our big journey yesterday was to my Mom and Keith’s house. We sledded in their backyard and street. We thought Swiffer wanted to sled.

He may not have, but we had a good time.

Visiting Mom's

Of course, the best part was watching the Hoarders episode about the man with all the rats. And hot chocolate.

Hot Chocolate

The hardest part was the long walk back home.

Snow Day Adventure : Trip to Five Points

We decided to get out of the house after lunch and brave the snow and ice. We started walking up the street and passed one of our neighbors who was getting his car warmed up to take his kid to the hospital for a possible broken arm from sledding. That really sucks.

When we got up to the church parking lot, Swiffer decided he liked the snow all of a sudden so we decided to run around for a while.

Once we got to Milledge, I thought it would be a good idea to keep walking to Five Points to see who was out and what was open.  Luckily, Jittery Joes’s was and so our trip was not made in vain. There were lots of people out walking and quite few out driving.

Oh yeah, I’d like to thank Mr. Andy Ingalls for braving the ice earlier today to deliver baking soda and baking powder to us. Sometime soon, there will be cornbread made in his honor. Sure, it helped that he was coming this way anyway to get his shovel but let’s just pretend that it was for us. It pays to tweet.

Here are some pics from our journey:
